Tom was born & raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  His mother was an educator & counsellor, his father a family physician. As a boy, weekend trips to extended family farms fuelled a fascination with lifecycles and spurred his desire to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Biology. At University of Winnipeg he fell in love with Lisa, a farmer's daughter who became his bride, an elementary school teacher and now his business partner. They were married in November 1988, the same year he earned his MBA from University of Manitoba, signed an advisor’s contract with North American Life and became a voluntary member of Advocis - The Financial Advisor’s Association of Canada.

With over three decades of entrepreneurial history and more than 12 years of management experience at one of the largest financial institutions in North America, Tom is well equipped to help business owners and pension plan members alike make better financial decisions. As part of a farming family Tom is also uniquely qualified to help farmers and their families deal with retirement and succession planning issues.

Tom is a past member of the Institute for Advanced Financial Education Board of Trustees where he Chaired the Standards Task Force and was an active member of the Education and Ethics Committees. He served as a Moderator for the Life Underwriters Association Training Course, on his local Chartered Life Underwriters Institute Executive Committee, on his local Life Insurance Managers Association Executive Committee and on various non-industry boards. Currently he is a Director on the Board of the Rosenort Credit Union.

When he is not working to serve his clients or his industry, he and Lisa enjoy: entertaining friends and family; going to Winnipeg Jets games; performing with Legacy - The Bunkowsky Family Band; travelling to scuba dive and explore other cultures; spending time at the Russell family cottage on Lake of the Woods.
